- General dentistry and specialty dental services are available for active duty service members and their dependents
- Dental specialty appointments require an evaluation or referral from a general dentist
- Civilians/retirees may be seen during sick call hours for urgent care needs based on space availability
After Hours Emergency
A dental provider is on call for after hours emergency dental needs. Contact the U.S. Naval Hospital Rota Emergency Department at 727-3307/3308 if you experience any of the following: severe dental pain that does not respond to pain medication, unexplained swelling, tooth loss or injury due to trauma, lock jaw, or uncontrolled bleeding following a dental surgical procedure.
Dental Classification
Class 1: Patient with current examination, who do not require dental treatment or reevaluation.
Class 2 Patients with current examination, who require non-urgent dental treatment or reevaluation.
Class 3: Patients who require urgent or emergent dental care. Non-deployable.
Class 4: Patient who require dental examinations. Non-deployable.
In Summary
Class 1 and Class 2 service members can deploy, PCS, and reenlist. Anyone listed as Class 3 and Class 4 are non-deployable and not medically/dentally ready.
